Katie Bender USA Midwest Business Development Director
Katie joined Travel Alberta in 2016 as the Midwest Business Development Director working out of the Chicago area. She comes to the team with a varied background in Association and Corporate management and sales experience. She’s a twice-former association executive director and meeting planner. Since 2005 she has worked for two different DMOs as the Midwest/West U.S. citywide sales director prior to joining Travel Alberta. She is passionate about working with clients to understand their meeting needs and objectives and showcase the ways that Alberta’s many amazing destinations are ideal to facilitate their goals.
Kyla Knudson CASE, CIS USA East Coast Business Development Director
Kyla has been a Travel Alberta Team Member since 2010 as the East Coast USA Business Development Director and is based in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area. Kyla came to Travel Alberta after 13 years of experience in the hotel industry overseeing convention sales for major hotel chains ranging in size from 316 guestrooms to 1,500 guestrooms and 150,000 sq ft of meeting space. Kyla is a Certified Association Sales Executive (CASE). As a native Albertan, Kyla is well positioned to advise clients on experiences Alberta offers their meeting attendees and why Alberta is a great place to convene.
Nicola Alexander U.K. & Europe Business Development Director
Nicola has been a Travel Alberta Team Member since 2010. She’s our U.K./Europe Business Development Director. Nicola’s previous experience includes 10 years with a major luxury hotel and resort chain, 8 ½ years in MICE global sales and 1½ years as a director of group sales for a famed London hotel. Nicola has also worked with Thomson Holidays. Nicola’s favorite things about working for Travel Alberta are marketing a destination she feels so passionately about and seeing her customers’ reaction when they experience our mountain destinations for the very first time – especially Lake Louise!
